Q&A WITH

Q: What was the original spark that led to the creation of Mindvalley, and how has that vision evolved over the years?
A: It started with burnout—classic Silicon Valley story. I was in my twenties, grinding away, chasing success, and quietly imploding. Stress was off the charts, and I was achieving… absolutely nothing. Then I stumbled across the Silva Ultramind System—a meditation methodology that didn’t just soothe my nervous system, it restructured my life. I went from intern to vice president in under six months.
That experience cracked something open in me. I knew I’d found something powerful, something the world needed access to. So I quit my job and decided to dedicate my life to spreading personal growth at scale. What began as a scrappy little meditation website has now become a global school for human transformation—with millions of students, hundreds of authors, and a mission that grows deeper every year.

Q: Mindvalley champions personal transformation—what personal transformation in your life most shaped the way you lead?
A: The shift from individual growth to unity consciousness changed everything.
Most people think of personal growth as vertical—honing your body, mind, and spirit. But there’s a horizontal dimension too: your compassion and your connectedness to humanity. That’s where true leadership starts.
At Mindvalley, our highest value is unity. And when you step into unity consciousness, you can’t look away from injustice. You feel the suffering of others. You speak out—against ICE raids, against genocide in Gaza, against any system that treats humans as less than.
Leadership, for me, isn’t just about vision. It’s about values. And unity is the north star.

Q: How do you define conscious leadership, and how does that principle influence your decision-making?
A: Conscious leadership means weighing every decision against the impact it has on all stakeholders—not just profits, but people and planet.
It’s about zooming out: How does this affect our customers’ experience? Our employees’ well-being? The world at large?
It’s a 360-degree lens. And it’s not always easy—but it’s essential if we want to build organizations that are both impactful and ethical.

Q: You’ve spoken about building a “company with soul.” What does that look like in practice at Mindvalley today?
A: It means moving beyond the transactional. Most American business culture is “I give you X, you give me Y.” But at Mindvalley, we build relationships, not just contracts.
Our authors aren’t just partners—they’re family. Every year, we fly them in from around the world for a week of connection, co-creation, and celebration. No agenda, no selling—just community.

We do the same for our team. We built what Inc. Magazine once called “the most beautiful office in the world”—but post-COVID, when some wanted to keep working remotely, we respected that. Soul doesn’t dictate. Soul listens.
We don’t see employees or creators as assets to extract value from. We see them as co-dreamers in a long-term vision.

Q: In what ways do you believe the traditional education system has failed modern learners, and how does Mindvalley fill that gap?
A: Traditional education trains two parts of the human experience: intellect and profession. Valuable, yes—but it’s a narrow slice of what it means to live a great life.
Mindvalley expands that scope dramatically. Our framework—Lifebook—helps you set goals across 12 dimensions: health, relationships, emotional states, spirituality, parenting, and more. Because success without fulfillment isn’t success at all.
Education shouldn’t just prepare you for a job. It should prepare you for life.

Q: How do you see the role of AI and technology reshaping personal growth and education in the next 5–10 years?
A: It’s going to be revolutionary—and we’re already seeing it unfold.
At Mindvalley, we’ve created AI avatars of our authors. You can talk to these digital versions of them—ask questions, get guidance, even share your emotions. It’s like having a master coach in your pocket, 24/7.
Soon, these avatars will post on social media, respond to your DMs, and offer insights tailored to your life. They’ll feel more human than human—and yet infinitely scalable. AI won’t replace the teacher. It becomes the teacher—and does so with infinite patience, memory, and personalization.

Q: Mindvalley brings together teachers from diverse fields—how do you ensure the content stays grounded in quality and credibility?
A: We vet with rigor. We look at accomplishments—book sales, media presence, scientific studies, impact.
But more importantly, we listen to our users. Every lesson, every audio track, every talk on our stage gets rated by our community. Those ratings are sacred. They help us refine, improve, and surface the best talent in the world.
The crowd doesn’t just follow the wisdom—they help curate it.

Q: You talk a lot about ‘Models of Reality’—what outdated model do you think society most urgently needs to upgrade?
A: National identity.
It’s one of the most dangerous illusions we still cling to. When you believe you’re American first, or Malaysian first, or anything-first, you unconsciously draw a line between “us” and “them.”
That’s how wars start. That’s how fear-mongering politicians rise to power.
But when you shift to Earth-centric thinking—when you see yourself first as a citizen of the world—everything changes. You no longer tolerate injustice across borders. You see the sacredness in every human.
This is the upgrade humanity needs now—not just intellectually, but viscerally.

Q: What daily practices or rituals are non-negotiable for you, and why?
A: Three things:
Creative time — I spend at least an hour a day building, writing, or experimenting. That’s where my magic comes from.
Meditation — It resets my nervous system, fuels my intuition, and keeps me grounded.
Health rituals — From workouts to nutrition, I follow a system that supports high energy and longevity. Your body is your interface for creating impact—so I take care of mine like a precision instrument.
Q: What belief or mindset shift has had the biggest impact on your success and wellbeing?
A: Stillness.
We live in a world addicted to motion. But some of the most profound breakthroughs in my life came when I stopped. When I listened. When I simply sat in silence.
Stillness reveals clarity. It births vision. It lets you hear the whisper of your soul before the noise of the world drowns it out.
For me, stillness isn’t a luxury—it’s a power tool.
